This week we served our last meals in Northern California. The 8 days we were there we served 53,078 hot bbq meals between the two locations. We had two locations running serving meals and getting them out to the first responders and those in need.

  • Napa that served 25,253 hot bbq meals
  • Santa Rosa that served 27,825 hot bbq meals
  • Total 53,078

We heard good news on Tuesday they were lifting evacuation orders in the majority of the area. The shelter populations dropped quickly after they lifted those orders. The big 3 fires in the area we were in are over 82% contained per Cal Fire. Below are the 3 main fires in our immediate area –

  • Tubbs Fire – 36,432 acres burned 92% contained (Santa Rosa & Calistoga main towns threatened)
  • Atlas Fire – 51,624 acres burned 85% contained (Napa & Yountville main towns threatened)
  • Nuns Fire – 54,423 acres burned 82% contained (Santa Rosa & Sonoma main towns threated)

That brings the total to 569,450 hot bbq meals in 2017 in 6 different states. Since 2011 we have served 1,751,692 in 24 states from 44 disasters. The most amazing thing is over the last 14 months we have helped over 1,015,000 people by providing hope, compassion and friendship while using our talents of cooking BBQ to ensure they had a them a hot meal.

We could not have done this deployment without the tremendous support of the local BBQ family! They were simply amazing. Additionally, these additional companies made it happen: Ole Hickory Pits, Sunbelt Rentals, Blue Rhino, Prairie Fresh, Butterball, Yeti, Cambro, Del Monte Meats, Alpha Omega Winery, Amiee D’Maris Events, Woodhouse Chocolates, many bbq teams, volunteers and other businesses that donated meat, vegetables, equipment. We are forever grateful for the new friends we met and the donors that help make this happen.
