It’s summer, and music is blaring all over the country. Some events are being catered professionally, and some are being self-catered. One thing is for sure: There are a lot of grills being fired up in back yards, near pools, in parks, and at professional venues. Summer barbecues are an American tradition. But obviously, they are not all the same. Here are 3 things that will set your apart.
1. Ribs
Few things get the mouth salivating as much as good old-fashioned barbecued ribs. There are a million different ways to season them, and a million different sauces to go with them. It’s one of the few foods where a bib is not only entirely acceptable – it’s downright necessary. If you put this together with a beautiful summer afternoon or evening, good company, cold beverages and plenty of succulent sides (not to mention light and flavorful desserts), you could have a standout event on your hands!
2. Brisket
Brisket is another one of those things that just screams “summer.” But does your caterer know how to do it right? Sure, you can attempt brisket on your own, and if you secure some good meat, the dish might come out over better than expected. But if you hire a caterer to serve brisket at your event, your expectations should be high. When brisket is done professionally in a beautiful summer setting, it just doesn’t get any better.
3. Original sauces
Everybody loves an original. That’s more and more true with everything these days, from craft beer to custom clothing from sites like Etsy. If your caterer is known for their summer barbecue prowess, and even creates their own original sauces, that’s a bonus for you. Some people even get into mixing their own barbecue sauces at home, and this can be a great way to “kick up” whatever you’re throwing on the grill.
4. A Whole Pig
For a lot of people, there are few things as festive and succulent as a whole roast pig. It’s a great centerpiece for a festive occasion, and people always want to talk about it. How much does it weigh? How was it prepared? How long did it take the roast it? And more importantly, how does it taste? The pig roast is a great tradition in countries all over the world, but we think the summer setting right here in New Jersey is up there with the best of them.
Set your summer event apart
There’s a lot of information out there today, and so many good products to choose from in fresh markets and grocery stores. Ambitious party planners have no end of options if they want to throw a party and make it taste good, while capturing a unique summer vibe. On the other hand, if your guest list is more than twenty or thirty, things can get complicated. Having the right caterer on your side makes a world of difference – someone experienced, who combines quality ingredients and kitchen expertise with excellent customer service.
