A pig roast with DRJ Catering is much more than simply delivering a cooked pig to a location. Yes, the pig is cooked to perfection and will be absolutely delicious.. But beyond pig perfection, our pig roasts as well as any of our parties come with everything you need to turn just an ordinary pig roast into an event that you will never forget and will want to repeat many times in the future. We leave nothing to chance as we want you to focus on your guests, not the food. Everything is included for you to get ready to eat, sit down and enjoy your friends and family. Every catered event will have an owner on-site as our award-winning reputation is well known throughout New Jersey and beyond and we aim to keep it tip top!

So, for example, if you order Burgers in addition to your Pig Roast, we will automatically supply the BBQ Grill, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mustard, ketchup, Mayo, buffet tables, tablecloths, eating utensils, chafing racks etc. In addition, we never have any hidden charges or extra fees. There are no surprises. Everything is included when you pay for the food. Service, condiments, and hardware are all part of your package. Special requests are welcome. Let us know, we always do our best to accommodate.
BOOKING & PRICING
Since we are a small family owned company and we have an owner at every event we do, we limit the amount of events we do so we can give you exceptional and personal service and we are never in a hurry to go somewhere else. Your event is the priority. Due to the level of personal service we provide, we advise you to book as early as possible to avoid the date you want being taken. Saturdays are the highest requested days and thus the most expensive. If you are flexible with the day you would like the pig roast, you can save some money by planning your event on a Friday evening or a Sunday afternoon. Even bigger savings can be obtained by booking on weekdays.
Depending on the time of year and the day of the week that you would like your pig roast, we do have basic pricing worked out in advance. However, the time of the party, location of the event, and other unique requests or circumstances are all factors that can contribute to pricing adjustments. We do not have a person minimum to come out. If you want us to come out and cook a special dinner just for two or if you have 200 guests we will be glad to accommodate you.
DROP OFF SERVICE
We only provide service for up to 2 events on any given day, so we prefer not to do “drop off” only type service as a general rule. In addition, dropping off a pig is not optimal for either of us because all of the items we provide are cooked to order at your event and heating them ahead of time and dropping them off lowers the quality of the food served. In order to keep the quality high we generally do not just do drop offs on pigs as they can be logistically challenging to just drop off. This does not mean we cannot do drop offs.
If you want a smaller pig for drop off only please ask and we will see if we can accommodate you. If your date is a weekday, Friday to Sunday we are more likely to be able to do a drop off as most larger catering events are on Saturday. If this is a service you desire please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
PACKAGES? YES SIR!
While we have many “packages” to choose from, please do not think of the package as a finalized menu. We are happy to customize every one of our event menus to your specifications as no two parties we do are ever the same. Your pig roast is one-of-a-kind! Our “packages” are put together to make your life easier but they are not crafted in stone. We want you to select whatever your heart desires and makes you happy.
Maybe you want a party that has a bunch of entrees and only a few sides or maybe you don’t want any sides at all. It could be that Grandma is making her famous dessert and you don’t need us to provide anything but salad and the main courses. It’s your event, you tell us what you want and we will cater to you!
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR PIGS?
All our pigs are from a local farm and we get them sized to whatever number of people will be attending your party, so if you want a 30 pound or a 200 pound pig we can accommodate you. We often get asked about pig vs. hog vs. boar. Well, a pig, hog and boar essentially describe the same animal but there are a few distinctions. A boar is an uncastrated male domestic pig, but it also means a wild pig of any gender. A hog often means a domestic pig that weighs more the 120 pounds. Pig is kind of a “catch-all” name and also generally describes the barnyard variety as well as boars and hogs.

We generally will arrive 2 hours before the party or pig roast starts to get setup. If your party is a pig roast, we will continue cooking the pig at your location until it is done. Once setup is complete and it is time to serve, we will serve your guest at either table side or buffet service depending on which you selected.
When everyone is done eating we will wrap up any leftovers and refrigerate them for you to have at a later time. At this point you can have us stay until the last guest leaves or if you want to continue partying the night away, we will quietly pack up and leave with our sincere best wishes.

No off premise caterer in New Jersey can provide alcohol as liquor licenses are not portable in the Garden State. However, we will gladly provide bartenders and advise you as to what you may need for bar setup.
LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS
We will try and accommodate any last minute parties you may have. You may have to be flexible with the day or the time but we can generally work something out for you last minute needs.
We will stay as long as you want us to but generally we serve an hour of appetizers, an hour and a half of the main meal and then dessert. Most parties last on average 6-10 hours depending on service required.
DEPOSITS & CANCELLATION FEES
We do have a booking fee which is 15% of the food and the tax in order to secure the date. When you give us the final number 10 days prior to the event we will send you an invoice and the balance is due 7 days prior if using a check or credit card or the day of the event if you want to pay cash before we setup. Unfortunately since we only do a maximum of 2 events per day and we are generally completely booked, we cannot offer any rain dates.
Just note that we are prepared to cook rain or shine. In the event of a cancellation prior to the final number being given you will unfortunately forfeit your booking fee.
